Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in Niles, Michigan, to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in family law and/or commercial litigation and will contribute to the firm's growth in Southwest Michigan.

Duties

• Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, custody, and support proceedings.
• Handle commercial litigation cases, such as contract disputes and shareholder conflicts.
• Prepare for and represent clients in trials, hearings, and discovery.
• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
• Conduct depositions and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Work with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys.
• Maintain communication with clients and provide tailored legal counsel.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Admitted to practice law in Michigan.
• Experience in family law and/or commercial litigation.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Michigan.

Skills

• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
• Proficient in legal practice management systems.
• Ability to manage case files and deadlines efficiently.
