Remote Consumer Debt Defense Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm with a growing national presence is seeking a Connecticut-licensed attorney to join its remote litigation team. This full-time role involves representing clients in debt collection matters, primarily involving original creditors or debt purchasers. The position focuses on cost-effective legal advocacy, frequently within the scope of a debt resolution program. Matters typically do not require complex litigation, and court appearances are minimal. This opportunity offers a flexible, fully remote arrangement and the chance to work in a collaborative, tech-enabled environment.

Duties:

• Provide legal defense for clients facing consumer debt collection lawsuits in Connecticut courts

• Engage in limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and modifying pro se filings prepared by support staff

• Evaluate and respond to settlement proposals as part of debt resolution oversight

• Conduct periodic case assessments in line with internal program objectives

• Coordinate with support teams to ensure case progress and client satisfaction

• Determine whether to attend in-person hearings when required or request substitute appearance coverage

• Maintain active communication with clients regarding case developments and outcomes

• Utilize case management systems and digital tools to manage remote workflow effectively

Requirements:

• Active law license in good standing with the Connecticut Bar

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation

• Familiarity with consumer debt matters and/or collection proceedings preferred

• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting

• Proficient in legal drafting, case strategy, and client communication

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in the state of Connecticut

Skills:

• Strong legal analysis and writing capabilities

• Knowledge of consumer protection laws and debt collection procedures

• Technologically adept with case management software and remote communication platforms

• Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to handle multiple matters efficiently

• Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, creditors, and support staff

Job Location:

• Southfield, MI (Firm Headquarters)

• Fully remote role; candidates must reside in and be licensed in Connecticut
