Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced civil litigator to join its appellate practice group in Seattle, WA. This position involves serving as embedded appellate counsel on complex matters, working closely with trial teams from pretrial through appeal, and leading appellate strategy throughout the life of a case.

Duties

• Draft clear, persuasive briefs and motions.
• Handle appeals from start to finish, including issue identification, briefing, oral argument, and post-decision strategy.
• Serve as embedded appellate counsel in trial-level proceedings.
• Advise trial teams on appellate strategy, issue preservation, and record development.
• Assist with or lead briefing and argument on significant pretrial and trial motions.
• Provide guidance on jury instructions, verdict forms, and posttrial motions.
• Present oral argument in trial and appellate courts.
• Take primary responsibility for matters, leading teams of lawyers and staff.

Requirements

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Washington bar and in good standing.
• Judicial clerkship experience, preferably with a state or federal appellate court.
• Ten or more years of civil litigation experience.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• High level of initiative and independence.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and delegate work to team members.

Education

• JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications
