Job Location: Uniondale, NY

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. This position involves defending general and premises liability matters for a variety of clients, with a focus on product liability, toxic torts, professional liability, and the defense of medical professionals in cases pending in New York, New Jersey, and federal courts. The role offers opportunities for professional growth and training across various legal areas.

Duties:

• Take and defend depositions
• Research legal, medical, and scientific issues, collaborating with senior attorneys on strategies
• Draft memoranda, briefs, and complex motions, including motions for summary judgment, pleadings, and discovery
• Draft client reports such as deposition reports, medical record analyses, case analysis reports, and case valuations
• Coordinate with and assist in preparing expert witnesses
• Participate in trial, mediation, and ADR planning and preparation
• Represent clients in courtroom appearances, including oral argument of motions and discovery conferences
• Achieve a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

• 2-5+ years of experience in general/premises liability or product liability matters
• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• An active member in good standing of the Bar
• Admission to New York state bar (New Jersey admission is a plus)
• Familiarity with New York Courts
• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Capacity to manage competing deadlines independently
• Conscientious, dedicated, and responsible work ethic
• Positive, professional attitude with flexibility
• Ability to work well with diverse personalities at all levels of the organization
• Strong interpersonal and client relation skills
• Military experience is welcomed

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar Membership in New York (New Jersey is a plus)
