The role involves managing cases, working closely with clients, and collaborating with an experienced legal team.

Location:

  • Fresno, California

Duties:

  • Explain immigration laws and provide strategic legal advice

  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Conduct client intake, including visits to detention centers

  • Prepare and review immigration applications such as removal defense and family-based petitions

  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration matters

  • Meet with potential clients to assess eligibility and outline legal strategies

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, government agencies, and community groups regarding changes in immigration law

  • Maintain and manage an assigned caseload under the supervision of the Managing Immigration Attorney

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through clinical work, internships, or volunteer experience

  • Willingness to take initiative, collaborate with peers, and contribute to team strategy

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously

  • Familiarity with legal technology and case management software (preferred)

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred, not required)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Bar admission (applications from recent graduates awaiting admission may also be considered)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research skills

  • Client-focused with an ability to build trust and clearly explain legal options

  • Comfort with public speaking and representation in legal proceedings

  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle a high caseload

  • Basic proficiency with immigration law procedures and documentation
