Litigation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its defense litigation team in New York, NY. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, handling defense litigation cases, and representing major corporations, institutions, and insured clients. The attorney will manage cases from inception through resolution, conduct depositions, and make court appearances. After a probationary period, the position may offer a hybrid or remote work arrangement.

Duties:

• Manage litigation caseload independently from inception through resolution.
• Conduct depositions and represent clients in court appearances.
• Draft legal documents, motions, and reports as required.
• Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and legal advice.
• Handle cases involving personal injury, general liability, construction defect, and transportation liability.

Requirements:

• 3-7 years of experience in defense litigation or as an Assistant District Attorney.
• Familiarity with New York State Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241, as well as general liability, personal injury, construction defect, and transportation liability cases.
• Strong writing skills and ability to handle legal research and document drafting.
• Admission to practice law in New York State Court (SDNY and/or EDNY admissions preferred).

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active New York State Bar license (required).
• Admission to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) or Eastern District of New York (EDNY) preferred.

• Strong communication and client management skills.
• Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple cases independently and meet deadlines.
• Organized and detail-oriented approach to case management.
