Job Overview:

This position involves handling a broad range of litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense or general civil litigation and a strong foundation in legal research, writing, case management, and trial preparation.

Duties:

• Manage diverse cases including professional negligence defense, insurance disputes, and personal injury litigation
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, such as pleadings and motions
• Attend depositions, hearings, and trials
• Act as first or second chair in civil jury trials when applicable
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to meet case deadlines
• Engage in pre-trial preparation, client communication, and case strategy development

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or civil litigation
• Proficiency in legal research and writing
• Experience managing cases independently
• Trial experience as first or second chair is an advantage but not mandatory
• Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Iowa

Certifications:

• Member in good standing of the Iowa State Bar
