Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its McAllen, Texas office. The candidate must have a minimum of five years of civil litigation defense experience and be licensed in Texas. This on-site role requires attendance at the office five days a week. The attorney will handle a variety of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, construction, transportation, business litigation, and insurance defense.

Duties

• Manage civil litigation defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Prepare case analyses, litigation plans, and status reports for clients and insurance carriers.
• Develop and implement case strategy.
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Active Texas Bar license.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Experience handling depositions, mediations, and motion practice.
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.
• Insurance defense experience preferred.
• Trial experience is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
