Job Overview

A law firm seeks an ambitious and self-motivated attorney to join the Tort, Transportation, and Specialized Litigation practice group in Richmond, Virginia. This role focuses on insurance coverage litigation, insurance defense, and general civil litigation defense in Virginia courts, requiring strong courtroom presence and analytical skills.

Duties

• Participate strategically in litigation teams to provide excellent client representation.
• Communicate directly with clients and their representatives.
• Proactively manage cases through discovery, issue-spotting, and research.
• Engage in trial preparation and participate in trials.
• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath.
• Prepare and argue motions.
• Draft coverage opinions and reports for insurance clients.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of litigation experience, with trial experience preferred.
• Motivation to grow as a litigator and take initiative in professional development.
• Experience with civil discovery, motions practice, and brief writing.
• Experience with taking and defending depositions.
• Excellent research and writing abilities.
• Clerking experience for a State or Federal Judge preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor

Certifications

• Active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
• Admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
