A law firm seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Attorney to join its Arlington, VA, office. Duties

  • Represent clients in Immigration Court proceedings and before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
  • Assist clients with family-based immigration petitions and asylum applications.
  • Conduct client consultations and draft affidavits in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews, ensuring they understand the process and are adequately prepared.
  • Research legal precedents and develop creative strategies for client cases.
  • Draft legal briefs and arguments to support client cases effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of case progress and ensure compliance with filing deadlines.

Requirements

  • Active bar membership in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia (required).
  • At least one year of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities, including active listening.
  • Proven problem-solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures.
  • Proficiency in drafting persuasive legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Bilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish, are highly desirable.
