Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Energy Transactional Attorney with deep experience in oil and gas transactions to join its Texas-based practice. This partner-track or lateral partner role is suited for a legal professional with over a decade of experience, a well-established presence in the energy sector, and a strong track record of business development. The ideal candidate will bring an existing referral network and the ability to independently generate significant revenue while building and leading a robust oil and gas transactional practice.
Location:
Houston, Texas
Duties:
Advise clients on oil and gas transactions, including asset purchases/sales, joint ventures, and project development
Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements related to exploration, production, and operations
Structure deals involving upstream, midstream, and downstream energy interests
Develop and grow an oil and gas transactional practice within the firm
Manage client relationships and generate new business opportunities
Collaborate with attorneys across related practice groups to support cross-functional legal needs
Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to strategic firm leadership
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing energy law with a focus on oil and gas transactions
Demonstrated ability to originate and manage client work with minimal oversight
Proven revenue generation of at least $750,000 annually
Established reputation and presence in the Texas energy legal community
Strong ties to large law firm attorneys or corporate referral networks
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in Texas (required)

Expert-level understanding of oil and gas law and commercial transaction structures
Strategic business development and client acquisition abilities
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and deal management skills
