The candidate will be conducting client interviews and maintaining contact with the client. Locating and interviewing witnesses. Attending client jail visits with attorney. Verifying information. Reviewing state’s evidence with attorney. Assisting in the development of defenses, theory of case, and trial strategy. Conducting fact investigation and analysis. Participating in formulation of discovery plan and drafting discovery requests. Obtaining copies of court documents, such as arrest records, search warrants, and prior records. Assisting lawyers in the preparation of depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences. Attending pretrial conference with attorney. Coordinating the appearance of witnesses at trial. Summarizing depositions, testimony, and interrogatories. Conducting legal research related to pleading and motion preparation. Drafting motions and stipulations for dismissal. Create and maintain a high level of execution in meeting deadlines under minimal supervision. Organizing and tracking files related to case documents and important transactions. Drafting legal court documents, such as motions, affidavits, demands, briefs and settlement agreements, and transactional documents, such as contracts. Paralegal certificate with 2 years experience as paralegal working in criminal law and personal injury, OR 5 or more years working as a legal assistant in criminal defense and personal injury law. 2 years extensive experience using Lexis Nexis required. Must be tech savvy- MS office, Outlook, MS Teams, Fax/copy/scan. Must have excellent verbal, writing and phone skills. Experience using Clio case management software preferred. Bilingual spanish preferred.
