General Litigation Attorney

A law firm seeks a general litigation attorney to join its diverse practice in Charleston, WV. The ideal candidate will have experience in business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors' rights, estate litigation, employment law, family law, and local government matters. The role involves managing all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and court appearances. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment and handle a broad range of legal matters.

Duties:

• Handle business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors' rights, estate disputes, employment law, and family law cases.
• Draft responsive pleadings, motions (including motions for summary judgment), and other legal documents.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including depositions and interrogatories.
• Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and mediations.
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies as needed.
• Conduct legal research and provide written analysis to support case strategy.
• Work closely with clients to ensure their legal needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Requirements:

• 2 to 5 years of general litigation experience.
• Proficiency in drafting pleadings, handling discovery, and preparing motions.
• Courtroom experience, including appearances and hearings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong academic record and a commitment to high-quality legal work.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Virginia, in good standing.
