Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a mid-level Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) practice group. This position focuses on electric regulatory matters and provides an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3 to 7 years of experience to work alongside a team of highly skilled energy lawyers on complex and cutting-edge regulatory issues. While candidates located in Washington, D.C. are preferred, attorneys in other markets may be considered.
Location:

Duties:
Advise clients on FERC compliance, electric transmission, and market issues
Draft regulatory filings, comments, and motions for submission to FERC and related agencies
Conduct legal research and analyze federal regulations, policies, and decisions impacting electric utilities and market participants
Participate in FERC proceedings, including rulemakings, enforcement matters, and tariff proceedings
Monitor regulatory trends and provide strategic counsel to clients in the energy sector
Collaborate with other attorneys on cross-practice and cross-office matters involving energy transactions and policy
Requirements:
3 to 7 years of experience in energy regulatory law, specifically involving FERC electric matters
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team on complex legal projects
Commitment to client service and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
Strong understanding of electric regulatory frameworks, including FPA, PURPA, and related statutes
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Active license in good standing in the state of residence and/or practice
Skills:
Superior legal writing and communication skills
Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret complex federal regulations
Experience drafting FERC filings, pleadings, and legal memoranda
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced regulatory environment
