Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Counsel to join their Practice Innovation team in Palo Alto. The role involves advancing practice-specific initiatives to maximize the value of innovation technologies and practices. The Innovation Counsel will collaborate with various teams to drive best practices in leveraging legal technology, introducing new tools and processes, and supporting practice group-specific resource initiatives.

Duties

• Support and provide input on legal technology adoption initiatives impacting practice groups.
• Design and prepare playbooks for best practices in innovation technologies.
• Organize presentations, status reports, and executive briefings.
• Collaborate with leadership in prioritizing requests and initiatives.
• Work with innovation teams to develop objectives and success metrics.
• Analyze practice group workflows to identify areas for improvement.
• Drive legal technology pilots and continuous improvements.
• Assist change management teams in developing communication campaigns.
• Develop and maintain practice group-specific resources.

Requirements

• 4+ years of applicable experience in legal practice or legal technology.
• Active member in good standing or registered in-house counsel of the bar(s) in relevant jurisdictions.
• Experience in supporting cross-functional projects involving legal technology teams.
• Understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes.

Education

• Juris Doctorate or non-US equivalent.

Certifications

• Active bar membership in relevant jurisdictions.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and firm applications.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
• Strong presentation skills and experience with varied audiences.
• Experience with technology usage data and metrics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
