Job Description:

What is the role

The Commercial Operations Manager will both manage and coach the team and support development of the team’s trading tactics and strategies.

The Natural Gas Operations team consist of 10-15 schedulers based in US and Mexico. Accountable for full remit of operational activity of Natural Gas trading desks including scheduling such that commercial value is optimized while also minimizing cost and profit leakage. Responsible to understand the end-to-end life cycle of a deal from pre-deal through to settlements. Accountable for safe, compliant, commercial end to end process optimization of pipeline logistics. Accountable for cost management and commercial value added to deals. Accountable to further embed a Continuous Improvement culture within the Commercial Operations area working with stakeholders and peer Team-Leads to identify opportunity areas for problem solving and further efficiencies. Actively engage the regional trade desk leads to ensure Operations teams are aligned and resourced to meet current & future business needs with appropriate skill sets and diverse talent.

This role will be expected to be on call 24/7.

Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills.

Experience and demonstrated success in managing complex multi-stakeholder needs.

Primary contact point for operational issues and strategic commercial opportunities.

Exposure to trading and more specifically operations within a trading organization.

Experience in leading and working cross-function, cross-business, internationally and with multicultural teams.

Accountable for creating an integrated commercial

culture focused on compliance, HSSE, operational excellence, optimizing business opportunities, maximizing commercial value and minimizing profit leakage supported by robust, safe and compliant operations.

Accountable for ensuring that Operations delivers a Talent and integrated Skill pool plan to ensure succession, capability planning, business continuity and strong performance.

Identify and develop synergies with global Commercial Operations teams.

Accountable for optimizing, re-modeling and harmonizing operations processes and tools as they relate to Gas Operations.

Accountable for scheduling and execution of NA Gas movements.

Knowledge of exposure management in trading as well as understanding P&L drivers.

Accountable for Business Continuity Focal Point within Gas Operations, maintaining BCP plans, and that Business Impact Assessments for Gas Operations are up to date with manual workaround procedures in place.

Establish an on the ground relationship with the pipelines and counterparties.

Develop and track KPI metrics/reporting

Lead continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as needed.

Established experience in handling the commercial aspects of contracts and logistics.

Ability to analyze and simplify complex problems and make decisions sometimes with incomplete data.

Previous exposure to a fast pace, high energy and demanding trading environment will be an asset.

Dimensions:

Primary working hours being 7:00 am and 7:00pm

Natural Gas Daily Deadlines:

Intraday-ID1(same day) = 10:00 a.m.

Timely (next day) = 1:00 p.m.

Intraday-ID2(same day) = 2:30 p.m.

EVE (next day) = 6:00 p.m.

Intraday-ID3 (same day) = 7:00 p.m.

The times represented are in Central Prevailing Time. This requires the candidate to be able to multi-task and work on 2 different gas days at the same time.

STN Systems:

Advanced Excel User with knowledge of formulas, look-ups, linking, pivot tables and macros

Knowledge of internal system; Endur / G-motion experience preferred

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Qualified candidate should have at least 8 or more years of natural gas scheduling experience

Experience in scheduling South US Region pipelines, including Texas and Mexico with preferred experience on Transco, ANR, Sonat, Gulf South, Acadian, FGT, Tiger

Support Retail Gas business

Knowledge of Gulf Production is a plus

Commercial mindset and ability to work effectively with Trade Desk in transport optimization, segmentation of pipeline capacity and realization of incremental value through commercial operational decisions

Advanced Knowledge of equity production supply, gathering lines, processing plants and downstream optionality

Proven track record of performance and delivery

Self-starter and ability to effectively multi-task

Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet strict time sensitive deadlines

Strong proven leadership abilities and experience with leading large teams

Very strong attention to detail

Effective communicator, with highly developed interpersonal skills

Strong Team Player

Ability to adapt quickly to changing internal and external requirements

Be the digital champion for the team, working on digital projects and putting forth ideas for improvements in the digital space

Foster knowledge to help create a more commercially minded team
