Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a skilled Litigation Associate to join its team in Lexington, KY, or Louisville, KY. Duties:
Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
Manage various aspects of complex litigation cases under appropriate supervision.
Participate in case strategy development and contribute insights to legal teams.
Communicate effectively with clients, providing legal counsel and case updates.
Assist in business development by contributing to legal publications, presentations, and research initiatives.
Ensure compliance with court procedures and filing requirements.
Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials as needed.
Requirements:
2–4 years of experience in business or tort litigation.
Strong legal research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
Ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Willingness to engage in business development activities.
Some travel required, including potential overnight stays.
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with the Kentucky State Bar.
Certifications:
Admission to practice law in Kentucky is required.
Additional bar admissions are a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF applications.
Strong knowledge of e-discovery processes.
Familiarity with appellate brief formatting and citation requirements.
Ability to prepare deposition summaries and organize document indices.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective time management and ability to meet billable hour requirements.
