Associate Attorney needed for Buffalo office

Profile

A law firm in Buffalo is seeking an Associate Attorney with a strong background in New York foreclosure law. The ideal candidate will also possess creditor-side bankruptcy experience and litigation skills. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling a variety of legal tasks, including the preparation of pleadings and motions, court appearances, legal research and writing, and communication with clients and court personnel.

Duties:

• Preparation of pleadings and motions related to foreclosure cases
• Representing clients in court appearances for motions, conferences, and mediation
• Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda and briefs
• Communicating orally and in writing with clients, outside counsel, and Court personnel
• Participating in general litigation matters as needed

Requirements:

• Admitted to practice law in New York; admission to New York’s federal district courts and/or other states is a plus
• 3+ years of experience representing creditors in foreclosures and/or title proceedings or a strong desire to learn these practice areas
• Experience with drafting pleadings, appearing in court, and researching legal issues
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Certifications:

Admitted to practice law in New York

Skills:

• Proficiency in New York foreclosure law
• Experience in creditor-side bankruptcy law preferred
• Litigation experience
• Leadership and management skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong organizational skills

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Additional Skills (Preferred):

• Admission to New York’s federal district courts
• Portable book of business is a plus
