Job Description
The Luce Elementary School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the Digital Learning Specialist for the upcoming school year beginning in August. The Digital Learning Specialist will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families, and staff.
The Luce Elementary School is an inclusive community for all students and staff and serves over 450 Students students in grades K-5. The Luce Elementary School is elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a school culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social-emotional learning for every student and ensures high-quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.

JOB SUMMARY
Teachers provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can access and make progress toward Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in order to participate in society while providing a safe and supportive educational environment for all students. The Elementary Digital Learning Specialist’s primary responsibilities are to (1) provide and support instruction of elements of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) 2016 Digital Learning and Computer Science Standards (DLCS) to students in grades K-5 and (2) to model and support educators on effective integration of digital tools and resources within the curriculum. Digital Learning Specialists work in collaboration with the elementary library aides during a shared special to provide both library and technology/stem learning activities. When not providing direct instruction, the Digital Learning Specialists will support and coach educators on integrating technology and digital literacy into the classroom.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(include but are not limited to) :
Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards
Collaborate with Library Aide
Provide building support as needed
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Prepare the classroom for class activities
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Use relevant technology to support instruction
Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments
Provide appropriate feedback on work
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations
Prepare required reports on students and activities
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Keep up to date with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned. (Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, other school staff and visitors
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
Working knowledge of relevant technologies: internet and email systems; word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software; and educational software
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable

WORK YEAR: 183 days
