Patent Agent (Chemistry)
Duties: The candidate will be responsible for drafting and globally prosecuting patent applications in organic chemistry and pharmaceuticals. Other responsibilities include litigation support and providing patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate and due diligence assessments. Support pharmaceutical patent litigation, including infringement and validity assessments, deposition support, expert witness support and trial support. Provide patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate and due diligence assessments. Draft and globally prosecute patent applications in the chemical arts. Provide support in the management of client patent portfolios. Coordinate and correspond with foreign law firms and associates to file foreign patent applications. Coordinate and correspond with clients for processing and legalization of formal documents for filing in U.S. and foreign patent offices. Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing License where needed. Maintain client portfolio and provide client with estimates of costs for future filings and maintenance. Assist in the Firm's standardized procedures to enhance malpractice prevention. Prepare and send notices to clients regarding upcoming deadlines. Correspond with foreign law firms regarding filings, deadlines and billings. Anticipate supervising partner or client needs for specific projects. Delegate effectively and as appropriate with Paralegals or Legal Administrative Assistants. Design, recommend, and implement new processes and procedures to increase group efficiency. Special projects, as needed. Meet billable hour requirement of 1650 per year. General and Administrative (5%)Performs other duties as assigned.
