Job Overview:

A highly regarded U.S.-based law firm is seeking an experienced attorney with significant expertise in international estate planning to join its Private Client Department. This role involves advising high-net-worth individuals and families on cross-border legal matters, including tax, trust, and compliance considerations. Ideal for professionals with a passion for working on sophisticated wealth planning strategies, this position supports flexible scheduling and can be based out of any of the firm’s office locations nationwide.

Location:

  • Hartford, CT

Duties:

  • Advise U.S. and non-U.S. clients on international estate and tax planning matters

  • Structure cross-border wealth management strategies

  • Counsel on compliance issues related to foreign accounts, trusts, and corporations

  • Manage planning related to pre-immigration, expatriation, and foreign property investment

  • Collaborate with corporate, tax, and transactional attorneys within a multidisciplinary team

  • Support multinational families with U.S. and overseas assets and beneficiaries

  • Provide clear legal documentation and strategy for high-net-worth clientele

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning

  • Strong technical proficiency in cross-border tax planning

  • Experience with foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation strategies, and foreign investment in U.S. real estate

  • Familiarity with FATCA/FBAR compliance and U.S. tax reporting obligations

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and verbal communication

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities

  • Effective collaboration in a team-based environment

  • Ability to identify and implement innovative legal solutions

  • Organizational and time-management efficiency
