E-Discovery Associate Attorney
A leading law firm in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy E-Discovery Associate to support its discovery practice group. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of litigation strategy, advanced data analytics, and information governance. The successful candidate will contribute to complex litigation matters across diverse sectors, collaborating closely with attorneys, technologists, and clients to deliver effective discovery solutions in a fast-paced legal environment.
Develop and implement protocols for data collection, review, and production in legal proceedings
Draft discovery-related documents, including motions, protective orders, and compliance policies
Conduct legal research and prepare briefs focused on e-discovery issues
Manage document reviews, including privilege and relevance determinations
Advise clients on e-discovery processes and compliance with procedural rules and legal obligations
Utilize modern e-discovery platforms (especially Relativity) to perform document analysis and production
Apply AI tools and analytics to streamline discovery workflows
Coordinate with internal legal teams and outside counsel to align on strategy and execution
Monitor industry trends and evolving case law in the e-discovery and digital governance space
Train junior team members on tools, workflows, and best practices
2-5 years of substantive litigation experience with a focus on discovery
Strong background in motion practice and pre-trial litigation strategy
Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills
Ability to manage direct client relationships, particularly with in-house legal and technical teams
Comfortable navigating discovery platforms and legal tech tools
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in North Carolina or eligibility for admission is required
Admission in South Carolina or Tennessee is a plus
Strong command of e-discovery platforms (preferably Relativity)
Proficient in the application of legal research tools
Analytical mindset with an interest in legal technology and data-driven practice
Collaborative work style and ability to manage cross-functional legal teams
Client-focused with the ability to translate technical e-discovery language into strategic advice
