Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Fort Myers, FL, with a minimum of five years of civil and commercial litigation experience. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload and engage in all litigation phases, from pre-suit evaluation to trial and appellate proceedings.

Duties

• Manage civil and commercial litigation files, including construction disputes and breach of contract actions.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal memoranda.
• Appear in state and federal courts to argue motions.
• Formulate discovery strategies and conduct document reviews.
• Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates and counsel.
• Oversee and direct the work of assigned paralegals and legal assistants.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of civil or commercial litigation experience.
• Demonstrated courtroom and trial experience preferred.
• Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Proficient in legal research databases (Westlaw/LexisNexis).

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
