Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney with 3–8 years of relevant experience to join its well-established and respected Trusts & Estates Practice Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex estate planning, administration, and tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, and charitable entities. Location:
Charlotte, NC
Duties:
Advise clients on estate planning strategies, including wills, trusts, and advanced directives
Assist with the administration of estates and trusts, including probate proceedings
Provide counsel on charitable giving and philanthropic planning
Analyze and implement tax-efficient estate and gift planning solutions
Draft comprehensive estate planning documents and related legal instruments
Coordinate with financial advisors, CPAs, and other professionals to implement plans
Stay current on federal and state tax laws relevant to trusts and estates
Requirements:
3–8 years of prior legal experience, primarily focused in the trusts and estates practice area
Strong understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
Ability to manage multiple matters independently while maintaining high attention to detail
Demonstrated experience working with high-net-worth individuals and family-owned businesses
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to the North Carolina Bar (or ability to become licensed promptly)
Skills:
Excellent drafting and legal writing skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
Professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive client matters
Collaborative approach and ability to work within a team-based environment
