Duties

  • Manage a diverse mix of personal and commercial injury cases from initial intake through resolution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and addressing concerns.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and demand letters.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including experts and depositions.
  • Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and settlement conferences.
  • Lead negotiations with opposing counsel and other parties to reach favorable settlements.
  • Provide clients with sound legal advice and guidance.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, paralegals, and other team members.
  • Review medical records, accident reports, and other critical documents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of case files and records.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys or legal staff.
  • Assist in acquiring cases by developing clients through quality work and referrals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing personal injury law.
  • In-depth understanding of personal injury law, trial procedures, and relevant case law.
  • Comfortable using legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to mentor and guide junior attorneys or paralegals.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas, and licensed to practice in both state and federal courts.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and demand letters.
  • Significant deposition experience as lead lawyer.
  • Experienced in negotiations and settlement discussions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Civil jury trial experience including 1st chair and 2nd chair.
