The candidate client and matter setups, conflict checks, including onboarding for new attorneys and any clients they may bring with them. New employee sets up in financial system. Creates draft invoices (prebill), edits to invoices, invoice issuance via email, e-billing and e-billing platforms and set up. Receives and enters all deposits and maintain origination charts. Handles all aspects of escrow (deposits, disbursements, balancing accounts). Works with collection manager when needed. Provides professional leadership to the Firm’s billing and accounts receivable department. Operates an automated billing system, in co-operation with other groups and departments. Drives efforts of the Firm in all aspects of billing and provide attorneys with financial information regarding clients, cash receipt and support to attorneys, valuation of work in process, accounts receivable. Provides all information regarding escrow wires and disbursements (including set up of wires); balance all escrow accounts. Prepares various financial reports for attorneys, clients, court hearings, etc.. Monitors policies and guidelines established by Firm by identifying timekeepers who have not complied with the Firm’s financial guidelines. Acts as a mediator to resolve issues with clients such as problems with invoices or with legal services provided by the Firm’s legal professionals. As an objective observer, this position will meet with the lawyer/management team to review and resolve the client’s problem. Hiring, trainings and manages daily duties of a team of two Billing Specialists. Should have 2-5 years of billing/accounts receivable or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and concepts is required.
