Litigation Legal Secretary / Assistant
The candidate will support attorneys in a secretarial capacity. Performs various administrative and clerical tasks, including responsibilities outlined below. Creating, editing, proofreading and redlining of legal documents for accuracy and grammar. Formatting, finalizing, and filing of legal documents in state and federal court (including appeals). E-filing knowledge for state and federal courts. Assisting with technology for scheduling, participating and evidence in Zoom hearings. Proofreading and cite checking legal briefs, while creating Table of Contents and Table of Authorities. Analyzing local rules and judicial preferences. Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files. Updating and maintaining client files. Arranging for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, and court officials. Maintaining attorney calendars manually and through Outlook (i.e. scheduling appointments, calendaring due dates, case deadlines, etc.). Performing a variety of administrative functions such as opening new matters, preparing engagement letters, creating and filing expense reports, entering attorney time, preparing travel arrangements, and assisting with business development projects. Should have 3-5 years of prior experience as a Commercial Litigation Legal Secretary/Assistant. Must be proficient with state and federal procedures (including appellate) and e-filing requirements. Experience with Worksite/Filesite document management system is a plus. Experience with Zoom and other virtual hearing media is a plus. Must have database/internet research skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft 2016 Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must have excellent proofreading, document formatting, and redlining skills. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
