Library and Digital Support sits within the wider directorate of Library and Academic Development, which alongside Library & student IT services, supports the delivery of educational development, digital education, student learning, and English language learning within the university. Library and Digital Support is based in the Charles Seale-Hayne Library, and is responsible for providing comprehensive information services to students, academic and professional staff in support of teaching, learning and research requirements across the University. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, well organised individual to the post of Senior Information Adviser, who will work under the direction of a Senior Information Specialist and will contribute to the delivery of a customer focused, cost effective and efficient library research support service. What will you be doing? Based at the Charles Seale-Hayne Library at our city centre campus, you will be working within the Library’s research support service which supports University researchers and students to ensure that research publications, theses and datasets are made publicly available in line with good research practise and the University’s Open Access and Research Data Management policies, enabling the University to meet the requirements of research funding bodies and prepare for research audit exercises such as REF. Typical duties include: Supporting our researchers with showcasing their publications in the institutional repository, PEARL Responding to researchers’ queries about their publication records in Symplectic Elements Reviewing and correcting the data in these systems to maintain quality and accuracy Assisting in producing reports of research outputs and activities. Identifying and escalating system issues Processing Open Access publishing payments via invoicing (credit cards) or approving payments via publisher dashboard systems You should apply if: You have strong skills in data handling and data presentation with a commitment to attention to detail. You have excellent IT skills, particularly a working knowledge of Excel. You are able to work collaboratively with colleagues and have problem solving skills, contributing expertise to other projects and teams when required. You demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills when answering queries from academics, professional service staff, and research students as well as external queries. You show a motivation for self-learning and keeping yourself up-to-date with new technologies and tools. An understanding of the Open Research landscape is desirable.
