Aon is looking for a Senior Counsel - Commercial Contracts & ProcurementAs part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective legal counsel supporting commercial contracts and procurement. This positon will be located in our Chicago, IL office. Your impact as a Senior Counsel - Commercial Contracts & Procurement Job Responsibilities:The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in a broad range of commercial transactions including experience with privacy and data protection, with a primary focus on procurement and commercial contracts including outsourcing (BPO/ITO), master service agreements, statements of work, master software licensing and software as a service agreements, and other sourcing, IT and technology related matters necessary for Aon’s operations. The successful candidate will be adept at identifying, assessing risk and advising on risks, managing stakeholders and prioritizing projects. Other experience related to real estate leases, intellectual property, and mergers and acquisitions desired but not required. The Senior Counsel will join a team of 10 other attorneys in the Corporate Law group, supporting the other members of the Corporate Group in a broad array of global corporate law initiatives. The Senior Counsel will have the opportunity to interact directly with internal senior level clients from around the world, including the global Chief Procurement Officer and regional procurement partners. The Senior Counsel will be responsible for legal matters in connection with the negotiation of material supplier contracts and management of legal risks related thereto in the North America region and will interact with the UK, EMEA and APAC regions as well. Aon has over $2 Billion globally in spend on third parties and the successful candidate will work alongside Aon’s global spend management function and other key stakeholders in providing effective legal and execution support to Aon. You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Required Experience:J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school; bar admission in Illinois. Strong academic credentials. Minimum of 5 years of strong legal experience preferably in a law firm and/or in-house position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work and engage collaboratively in a team setting. High level of self-direction, process oriented, and sound judgment. Ability to provide practical, timely solutions to business partners, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to successfully navigate in a matrixed environment and understanding of a shared service operational model.Previous experience with regulatory environments and Financial or Professional Services.Ability to keep perspective and meet challenges/obstacles with humor and humility.Self- starter capable of handling a multitude of issues at any one time.Curiosity and creativity with the ability to quickly digest and understand complex business issues.Strong business acumen and ability to balance risks and commercial benefits.We offer you A competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.
