Profile
Large, international law firm is seeking DOCKETING SPECIALIST to handle a variety of patent and/or trademark docketing duties and responsibilities according to established firm olicies and procedures and USPTO and foreign rules. The Docketing Specialist reports to the Sr. Patent Docketing Specialist/Supervisor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Follow the established policies and procedures of the department recognizing any differences in policies and procedures to be brought to the attention of the Sr.Patent Docketing Specialist/Supervisor.
-Accurately docket USPTO and foreign patent and/or trademark mail in docketing system according to established procedures.
-Generate and monitor daily docket of deadlines and ensure that deadlines are met and system is properly updated.
-Review incoming and outgoing emails/faxes/mail and update docketing systems as necessary.
-Review/double-check selected patent documents before electronically filing them with the USPTO. Use checklists to facilitate this review.
-Provide assistance with overflow docketing and/or coverage for other offices.
-Respond to requests from attorneys, secretaries, and Practice Systems staff.
-Assist with various Docketing Dept. projects.
-Generate reports and dockets.
-Process transferred-in files/matters including: assigning numbers based on case relationships, accurately docketing them in the system, and providing detailed reports to attorneys/seretaries/paralegals.
-The Sr. Patent Docketing Specialist/Supervisor may assign the Docketing Specialist to be a mentor to others.
-Regular contribution to the patent manual.
-Regular, consistent attendance is essential.
-Occasional travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
-Advanced knowledge of docketing and patent/trademark processes as normally acquired through training, education, and several years of work experience in the IP field.
-Ability to work in electronic work environment.
-Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
-Ability to identify issues and problems and proactively work to solve them.
-Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment and contribute to effective team relationships.
-Excellent interpersonal skills in order to maintain effective relationships, in person and via telephone and email.
-Professional conduct, service-oriented attitude and acute attention to detail.
-Work occasionally requires more than normally scheduled work hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
-5-10+ yrs. experience in Intellectual Property Patent and/or Trademark.
Salary: $60,000-$85,000 DOE
