A law firm seeks a mid-level Business Litigation Associate for its Scottsdale, AZ office. The ideal candidate will have over three years of recent business litigation experience and be licensed to practice in Arizona. Strong writing skills and excellent academic credentials are essential.

Duties

• Review fact patterns and provide accurate analysis and recommendations.
• Analyze legal issues effectively and accurately.
• Second chair complex cases or first chair simpler cases.
• Assist lead trial attorneys in pre-trial issues and proceedings.
• Prepare complex pre-trial motions.
• Evaluate and implement pre-trial and witness preparation.
• Handle pre-trial motions in Federal and State courts.
• Manage small cases independently with minimal supervision.
• Handle modestly complex commercial cases independently.
• Prepare motions for summary judgment.
• Prepare deponents effectively.
• Take complex deposition testimony.
• Demonstrate experience in various substantive areas of law.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate with excellent academic credentials.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Arizona.
• Familiarity with federal and state court procedural rules and practices.
• Ability to prepare basic litigation documents.
• Case management experience.
• Clear and effective drafting skills.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Ability to learn new substantive legal topics as needed.
• Provide effective and reliable legal services to clients and supervising attorneys.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong organization and matter management skills.
• Work effectively with others as part of a team.
