Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Special Counsel in Boston, MA, to support its Health Law and Corporate sections, focusing on data privacy and cybersecurity. This role involves working at the intersection of health regulatory counseling and corporate transactions, with a target allocation of approximately 60% Health Law and 40% Corporate.

Duties

• Provide senior-level support on HIPAA, privacy, digital health, cybersecurity, and AI matters.
• Manage and execute diligence processes and assess privacy and cybersecurity risks.
• Advise on regulatory and compliance implications and draft privacy and security provisions.
• Support compliance program development and assist with technology contracting and vendor risk issues.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, digital health, or related fields.
• Admitted to or eligible for admission to the MA, NY, or DC Bar.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
• Experience advising on compliance with major privacy and data protection frameworks.

Education

• JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• CIPP or other IAPP certifications are a plus.

Skills

• Strong technical experience and excellent judgment.
• Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical advice.
• Experience with privacy and cybersecurity aspects of M&A and private equity transactions.
• Familiarity with AI regulatory developments and emerging AI governance frameworks.
