Job Overview

A well-established national law firm is seeking a Coverage Counsel – Claims Management & Insurance Advisory to support its specialty and professional liability practice. This role involves evaluating complex coverage issues, managing a high-volume caseload of professional liability and D&O matters, and advising insurers on risk mitigation and litigation strategies. This position offers a fully remote work option and is ideal for attorneys with experience in claims management and insurance coverage analysis.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of claims from intake through resolution

• Conduct detailed evaluations of coverage, liability, and damages across multiple insurance lines (e.g., professional liability, D&O, EPL, real estate liability)

• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters

• Develop and implement case handling and resolution strategies

• Oversee outside counsel and coordinate litigation efforts

• Prepare comprehensive exposure reports and reserve recommendations for clients

• Engage in direct negotiations and mediations to resolve disputes

• Regularly communicate with carriers, clients, and external counsel

• Support legal projects in collaboration with internal teams and partners

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of legal practice experience in insurance law

• Demonstrated experience handling complex claims and drafting detailed coverage opinions

• Prior experience in private practice preferred

• Strong background in professional lines or specialty insurance matters

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment

• Experience coordinating and monitoring outside counsel activities

• Proficient in exposure analysis and claims resolution strategy

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• Good standing with relevant state bar(s)
