Job Overview

A respected law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3–4 years of experience to join its Tort, Transportation, and Specialized Litigation Practice Group in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The team handles a variety of civil defense matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, civil rights, business torts, and statutory claims. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated associate looking to accelerate their litigation career with hands-on experience, client contact, and courtroom work in a collaborative environment.

Location

• Baton Rouge, LA

Duties

• Work collaboratively with litigation teams on defense cases across multiple industries

• Communicate with clients and client representatives regarding case strategy and progress

• Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs; argue motions in court

• Conduct and respond to written discovery

• Prepare for and participate in trials and arbitration hearings

• Take and defend depositions

• Assist with case evaluations and settlement discussions

Requirements

• 3–4 years of litigation experience at a law firm

• Strong desire to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to a trial-focused practice

• Proficiency with motion practice, civil discovery, and deposition procedures

• High level of initiative and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active member in good standing with the Louisiana Bar

Skills

• Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities

• Strong oral advocacy and interpersonal communication skills

• Effective organization and time management under litigation deadlines

• Eagerness to gain courtroom and client-facing experience early in practice
