Duties:

  • Review and assess potential civil rights cases by conducting thorough legal research to evaluate their merits.

  • Manage the litigation process for civil rights cases, including drafting pleadings, overseeing discovery, and preparing and arguing complex motions.

  • Take depositions and represent clients in court when necessary.

  • Engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals, to provide legal counsel and support.

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and team members to strategize and develop case approaches.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active license to practice law.

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a preference for experience in civil rights, constitutional law, or trial work.

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities, with a focus on complex motions and case law analysis.

  • Experience handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals.

  • A genuine interest in civil rights advocacy and advancing case law.

  • Strong commitment to justice and social change through legal means.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must hold an active license to practice law.
