A New York City-based law firm is seeking a Matrimonial and Family Law Associate Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. Duties:
Manage matrimonial and family law matters from initial filing to resolution
Draft a wide range of legal pleadings including emergency motions, pendente lite motions, and cross-motions
Oversee discovery, including preparation of document requests and responses, review of production, and e-discovery
Conduct legal research with precision and present findings effectively
Prepare trial materials and exhibits; support or conduct hearings and trials
Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategies and case development
Serve as a client contact for ongoing legal matters
Lead or assist with depositions and related proceedings
Maintain accurate tracking of case timelines and court deadlines
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and third parties with professionalism
Requirements:
Minimum of 3-12 years of experience handling matrimonial and family law litigation
Strong command of New York civil procedure and federal appellate rules
Demonstrated success managing complex casework under pressure
Exceptional legal writing, analytical thinking, and research skills
Capable of handling emotionally charged client matters with empathy and discretion
Previous trial or evidentiary hearing exposure preferred
Must be licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar
Authorization to work in the United States
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Active New York State Bar Admission (Required)
Skills:
Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Skilled at client counseling in high-stakes, emotional contexts
Proficiency with litigation management tools and Microsoft Office Suite
