A law firm seeks a motivated Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. The firm specializes in debt recovery litigation, providing comprehensive solutions for major banks and creditors. This role offers a commission-eligible opportunity with no billable hour requirement. The successful candidate must be licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas and possess excellent organizational skills and familiarity with courtroom and civil procedures.

Duties

  • Review and approve new claims within jurisdiction.
  • Assist with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory.
  • Conduct document review and discovery.
  • Execute documents requiring Attorney's signature.
  • Communicate with Managing Attorney and clients regarding case details.
  • Respond to litigation-specific components of client audits.
  • Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law.
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using legal precedents.
  • Prepare and file legal documents.
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation.
  • Work with Pro Se litigants and opposing counsel to settle files.
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel.
  • Support corporate compliance with debt collection laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited institution with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • Demonstrated case analysis ability and proven settlement skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and internet research.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt and act quickly in urgent situations.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and maintain confidentiality.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
