A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney in the Grand Rapids area to join its growing team. This role will focus on retail consumer collections and creditors' rights, offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with the latest technology. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in creditor’s rights and civil litigation, with a focus on developing and implementing litigation strategies, representing clients in court, and collaborating with a dynamic legal team.

Location:

• Grand Rapids, MI

Duties:

• Develop and implement case-level litigation strategies for creditor’s rights and collections.

• Represent clients in court proceedings and handle all aspects of litigation.

• Manage dockets, prepare pleadings, and ensure seamless case management with the support of paralegals and legal staff.

• Negotiate settlements with defendants and opposing counsel.

• Defend against counterclaims and navigate complex litigation matters to resolve disputes.

• Stay updated on laws and regulations in creditor's rights and collections, and support internal team education.

• Leverage industry technology to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.

• Travel regionally to appear at courts throughout Michigan as required.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in creditor’s rights and civil litigation.

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in the Michigan State Bar.

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to develop and implement litigation strategies.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to manage multiple cases and collaborate effectively with team members.

• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with a focus on achieving positive client outcomes.

• Willingness to travel regionally for court appearances.

• Ability to pass a thorough background review process.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Michigan State Bar.

Skills:
