Intellectual Property Specialist
The candidate will file creation and maintenance through the life of a patent application, from filing to patent issuance. Draft PCT, US, and design application transmittal papers. Draft and coordinate execution of Assignments, Powers of Attorney, and Declarations. Draft Responses, Preliminary Amendments, Missing Parts responses, Petitions, Request for Extensions of Time, Information Disclosure Statements, Notice of Appeal, issue fees, requests for corrected documents and perform status checks. Draft documents and responses related to applications, requests, and demands for preliminary Examination. Draft and file National and Regional applications. Regular status checks in USPTO private status system. Online filing of US and PCT patent applications. Draft Reporting letters and fee reminders. Knowledge of the docketing system, however, no docketing is required. Review and client reporting of the Notice of Publication, Issue Notification, Letters Patent: prepare Certificates of Correction. Tracking, preparing, filing, and reporting all responses to Notice of Allowance/issue fees, with reminders. Client Status reports-both U.S. and foreign- as requested. Legalization of documents for foreign applications, registrations, and support for litigation. Should have bachelor's Degree. Should have experience with US patent prosecution. Should have experience managing international prosecution through local counsel; knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures; knowledge of filing requirements for original US, PCT, and Paris convention applications; strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; comfort dealing directly with lawyers and staff contacts in the US and abroad; strong knowledge of MS Office applications. Familiarity with procedures for a billable time-in-time tracking program is a must. Should have the ability to prioritize work while remaining deadline-focused; 2-3 years of dedicated patent prosecution experience; 3-5 years of law firm work experience.
