Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate for the Civil Litigation and Trucking/Transportation practice groups in the Chicago, IL area. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely and requires a professional with exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.

Duties

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and in depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials.
• Travel may be required.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in Civil Litigation.
• Admitted to practice in the state of Illinois; Iowa admission is a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid research abilities and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
• Must respond promptly to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in Illinois.
