Job Overview:
A nationally respected law firm is seeking a seasoned Of Counsel – Corporate Aviation attorney to join its Business and Transactions practice group. This role focuses on complex aircraft transactions for a global client base, including commercial airlines, financial institutions, leasing companies, and high-net-worth individuals. The successful candidate must have 10+ years of experience in aviation law and be able to independently advise clients on a wide range of regulatory, tax, and operational issues. This opportunity is open across all firm office locations in the U.S. and is being offered by a legal recruiting agency on behalf of the firm.
Location:
Las Vegas, NV
Duties:
Serve as lead counsel in aircraft acquisitions, financings, leases, and sales
Advise on compliance with FAA regulations, aircraft registration, and operational structuring
Counsel clients on domestic and international aviation tax matters
Provide legal support for aircraft customization, completion, and maintenance contracts
Handle transactions for aircraft of all sizes, from general aviation aircraft to VIP-configured Boeing 747-800 and 787 models
Represent clients such as:
Commercial and private airlines
Aircraft leasing and financing companies
High-net-worth individuals
OEMs and aviation suppliers
Draft and negotiate a full range of aviation transaction documents
Manage client relationships and contribute to business development
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate aviation law and transactions
Proven ability to manage complex transactions and advise clients independently
Deep familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements and aviation finance structures
Active bar license in the state where the candidate will be based
Strong preference for candidates with a portable book of business
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in-good-standing bar admission in the applicable jurisdiction
Skills:
Sophisticated contract drafting and negotiation abilities
Strong client advisory and interpersonal communication skills
Deep knowledge of aircraft operations, regulatory compliance, and tax structuring
Ability to manage multi-jurisdictional and cross-border transactions
Strategic thinking, detail orientation, and business acumen
