Lateral Associate - Intellectual Property Litigation

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a lateral associate with intellectual property litigation experience to join their Litigation Group in New York, NY, or Los Angeles, CA. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two years of experience in IP litigation at a comparable law firm and a strong academic background. This role is not open to current law students.

Duties

• Handle complex intellectual property disputes, including antitrust and competition law issues.
• Enforce patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and other IP rights.
• Defend against claims of infringement and manage litigation concerning patent license agreements.
• Communicate complex technical issues to judges and juries.
• Represent clients in bench and jury trials, as well as arbitrations.
• Advise on strategic and day-to-day IP portfolio management.
• Consult on trade secret protection, patent pools, and joint licensing programs.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of IP litigation experience at a comparable law firm.
• Strong academic background preferred.
• Experience in handling complex intellectual property disputes.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
