Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a qualified mid-level associate with a minimum of 2 years of experience in project development and/or finance to join its Project Development & Finance practice. The ideal candidate will have strong experience gained at a large national or international law firm and will have the opportunity to contribute to high-value projects in a dynamic environment.

Location:

  • Houston, Texas

Duties:

  • Assist with project development and finance matters, including structuring and negotiating transactions.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to project development, financing agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Provide legal advice on compliance and regulatory issues affecting project development and finance.
  • Manage legal due diligence and document preparation in relation to financing and development projects.
  • Collaborate with senior associates, partners, and clients to develop legal strategies for various projects.
  • Participate in client meetings and negotiations, offering legal expertise.
  • Manage a caseload and meet project deadlines while ensuring accuracy and quality in legal work.
  • Contribute to the development of business opportunities for the firm.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior associates and support staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project development and/or finance law.
  • Strong background in transactional work, project development, and finance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities efficiently.
  • Familiarity with large-scale projects, preferably gained in a national or international law firm.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the state bar where the position is based (Texas, New York, or California).

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in the relevant state (Required).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Expertise in project development and finance.
  • Excellent negotiation and client management skills.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with teams on complex legal matters.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
