Job Overview

A respected law firm based in Los Angeles is seeking a mid to senior-level attorney to join its dynamic intellectual property litigation team. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional with a solid background in patent disputes, particularly involving complex technologies and sophisticated trial work. The position is offered through a specialized legal recruitment firm assisting with talent acquisition on behalf of the hiring organization.

Duties

• Handle all phases of patent litigation from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal

• Draft and respond to legal pleadings, discovery requests, and dispositive motions

• Create and analyze infringement and invalidity claim charts

• Manage Markman hearings, claim construction arguments, and inter partes review proceedings

• Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses

• Participate in strategic decision-making, including litigation planning and client advisement

• Prepare trial materials including exhibit lists, motions in limine, evidentiary submissions, and examination outlines

• Draft appellate briefs, especially for matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

• Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and contribute to team development

Requirements

• 4-8 years of focused experience in patent litigation

• Substantial familiarity with federal court procedures and patent-specific legal processes

• Demonstrated capability in high-stakes litigation, including significant courtroom or trial preparation work

• Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex technical material

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

• An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline is strongly preferred

Certifications

• Admission to the State Bar of California (or eligibility for prompt admission)

• USPTO registration or equivalent technical litigation experience is advantageous

• Adept at communicating complex technical and legal issues clearly to diverse audiences

• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, collaborative environments

• Strong organizational and case management abilities
