Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm based in Hickory, NC seeks a licensed attorney with a strong foundation in real estate closings to oversee and finalize residential and new construction property transactions. This role centers on ensuring seamless legal execution during the property transfer process, maintaining regulatory compliance, and protecting clients' legal and financial interests throughout the transaction lifecycle. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, diligence in documentation, and a client-focused approach to legal service delivery.

Duties:

Transactional Oversight & Signing Execution

  • Manage and conduct in-person signings for residential and new build closings

  • Ensure all transactional paperwork meets procedural, legal, and jurisdictional requirements

  • Validate proper disbursement and execution of closing documentation

Legal Documentation & Review

  • Prepare, review, and interpret purchase agreements, deeds, leases, and related contracts

  • Evaluate compliance of legal documents with transaction specifics and regulatory obligations

  • Examine loan packages for accuracy and adherence to financial and legal standards

Client Advisory & Legal Support

  • Deliver clear, actionable legal advice regarding the implications of property transactions

  • Guide closing to address real-time legal questions and concerns

  • Assess and review property surveys, inspection reports, and supporting materials

Title and Insurance Evaluation

  • Conduct in-depth title reviews to detect and resolve encumbrances or defects

  • Apply understanding of title insurance to help clients mitigate risk

  • Facilitate issuance and explanation of title commitments at the closing table

Builder Transaction Oversight

  • Analyze builder-provided title documentation for new construction projects

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure clear, marketable title before closing

Client Relations & Business Development

  • Cultivate new client relationships through outreach and engagement

  • Participate in monthly networking efforts with industry professionals to develop referral sources

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law and an active member in good standing of a state bar

  • Commissioned Notary Public in the state of practice

  • Prior experience with residential real estate closings

  • Familiarity with closing disclosure forms, ALTA statements, and lender requirements

  • Ability to manage high-volume workflow with attention to accuracy and timeliness

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar license (North Carolina preferred)

  • State Notary Public certification

Skills:

  • Strong legal drafting and interpretation abilities

  • Skilled in analyzing title documents, liens, and zoning issues

  • Excellent verbal and written communication for client-facing interactions

  • High ethical standards and a commitment to client confidentiality

  • Problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for issue-spotting and resolution
