This position is ideal for a senior-level attorney with a minimum of seven years of experience representing public school boards or educational institutions, either in private practice or a government setting. The role offers the opportunity to work across multiple office locations while advising clients on a broad range of education-related legal matters.

Duties

  • Advise school boards and educational institutions on legal compliance and risk management

  • Draft and review policies, contracts, and administrative procedures

  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, board meetings, and other legal proceedings

  • Provide legal support on matters related to student rights, employment law, and governance

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the education sector

  • Collaborate with internal legal teams and external stakeholders to develop effective legal strategies

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience practicing education law

  • Proven track record of representing boards of education or similar clients

  • Experience in a law firm or governmental legal role handling education matters

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Strong academic credentials required

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina or eligibility to gain admission
