Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Attorney specializing in government takings law. The successful candidate will play a key role in representing clients who have suffered losses due to government takings, while contributing to the growth of the firm’s government takings practice. This position offers the opportunity to handle complex litigation matters involving federal takings claims, real estate law, and compensation disputes.

Duties:

  • Evaluate potential claims and provide legal counsel to prospective clients.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and litigation, seeking compensation for losses due to government takings.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents, conduct thorough legal research, and gather essential evidence.
  • Interpret real property maps and instruments of conveyance.
  • Conduct real estate title examinations when necessary.
  • Oversee case files and coordinate with support teams to ensure timely and efficient case management.
  • Negotiate settlement agreements where appropriate to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • Licensed to practice in any state with eligibility for admission to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in real estate transactions, real property litigation, and/or government takings.
  • Strong understanding of government takings law, real property law, and federal constitutional law.
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, court appearances, and case-related tasks.
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in any state, with eligibility for admission to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Skills:

  • Expertise in government takings and real property law.
  • Strong legal research and document drafting abilities.
  • Effective negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing complex litigation matters.
