Job Overview:
A well-established law firm client is seeking a Land Use Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join its San Francisco office. The role offers a dynamic opportunity to work on high-profile land use, environmental, and regulatory matters across California, including project entitlements, CEQA/NEPA compliance, and administrative proceedings. This position is well-suited for attorneys with strong legal training, excellent communication skills, and an interest in shaping complex development and infrastructure projects.

Duties:
Provide counsel on land use entitlements and planning matters
Represent clients in administrative hearings and regulatory proceedings
Advise on compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and related environmental regulations
Assist with litigation involving land use and environmental issues
Draft and negotiate legal documents and memoranda related to land use approvals
Conduct legal research and analysis on zoning, natural resource law, and local government regulations
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, and consultants
Support renewable energy projects and permitting (preferred but not required)
Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience in land use law, environmental review, or related regulatory matters
Familiarity with CEQA/NEPA and administrative law processes
Experience with renewable energy projects is a plus but not required
Strong academic background with demonstrated legal training
Excellent legal writing, verbal communication, and advocacy skills
Must be admitted to the California State Bar
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing with the California Bar
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of California land use law and environmental regulatory frameworks
Strong analytical and research capabilities
Clear, concise, and persuasive writing skills
Effective public speaking and advocacy in administrative and legal settings
Ability to manage complex, deadline-driven matters across multiple jurisdictions
Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
