A law firm is seeking a Research and Writing Attorney for its office in Lewiston, ME. The successful candidate will be part of a team working closely with lead trial attorneys on personal injury, sex abuse survivors, and medical malpractice cases. Here's what the job entails:

Job Overview:

• Work collaboratively with lead trial attorneys to perform research, analysis, and writing tasks for various tort law cases.
• Contribute to the representation of plaintiffs in legal proceedings.
• Demonstrate a keen interest in the intellectual aspects of tort law and trial practice.

Duties:

• Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
• Analyze and interpret legal documents, including depositions, witness statements, and medical records.
• Draft legal memoranda, motions, briefs, and other court documents.
• Assist in case preparation, including organizing evidence and preparing exhibits.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies and arguments.
• Attend meetings, hearings, and trials as required.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in Maine or eligibility for admission by motion.
• Strong academic credentials, with a focus on tort law coursework preferred.
• Exceptional research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate them effectively.
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

• Admission to the Maine State Bar or eligibility for admission by motion.
