Job Title: Civil Litigation Attorney (Virginia Bar Eligible)

Job Overview: A law firm based in Rockville, MD is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Civil Litigation Attorney. The ideal candidate should have a valid license to practice law and be eligible for the Virginia Bar. The role involves handling complex legal matters, including trial strategy development, client advisement, and participation in all stages of litigation.

Duties:

• Analyze case outcomes and develop trial strategies using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Advise clients on claim liability, legal rights, and the advisability of lawsuits.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, subpoenas, and motions.
• Manage pre-trial discovery and draft discovery requests, pleadings, and motions.
• Represent clients in court, depositions, and during witness questioning.
• Prepare witnesses and exhibits for trial, as well as organize trial materials.
• Oversee the development and organization of large-scale document production.
• Utilize legal software, including MS Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• (Optional) Engage in marketing and client development activities to help expand the firm's client base.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law, preferably with 1+ years of litigation experience.
• Newly licensed attorneys qualified for the Virginia State Bar are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• In-depth understanding of legal concepts, terminology, and procedures.
• Ability to work in both independent and team settings.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia.

Certifications:

• Virginia State Bar license or eligibility required.

Skills:

• Proficient in legal research, drafting legal documents, and trial preparation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Adept at managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Technical proficiency in legal software, MS Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
